Pison was growing impatient. "They should be here…" he said to himself, pacing in a circle of dead grass as each step burned the very essence of the terrain underfoot. "I expected them to reach Cathar's End, but why are they not here?"

The mercenary gripped his grisly whip tightly, barely wincing at the registered pain from his fingers squeezing too hard against the hardened caltrops that covered the length of the weapon.

Simply being at Cathar's End brought him nothing but grim memories: the screams of the bandits that he slew while trying in vain to protect Lady Alphea

Alban walked the streets of Ravenhold as if he was a stranger in the city that was once the place where he was taught the skills required to become a ranger.

It wasn't that the tall man, still wearing his manawoven girdle and travel clothes stood out. He did, especially with the immense sword that was strapped to his back. The problem was that he couldn't remember the streets he now trodded upon.

The city was the same, but it had changed so much since he left it. No soldiers following the marching beat of the training drums; no kids playing in the streets with sticks and wooden

This is something I worked up yesterday afternoon, during my work time. I actually spent a bit of time today cleaning it up, too.

This isn't part of Karyana's story. Not really, anyways. I just wanted her to have a moment of happiness. With all the hardships she withstood, I hope it'll be worth it.
